A minissérie é um quebra-cabeça de peças necessárias, que formam um retrato fiel da sociedade atual.

Demorei muito para ceder a proposta de Big Little Lies, a minissérie estreou na HBO em fevereiro, e só fui começar a assisti-la durante uma maratona do canal nesse mês quando decidi dar uma chance a trama e em poucos minutos me vi presa a um enredo pertinente e realista que destoa bastante das demais séries que trazem mulheres nos papéis principais. Em um país onde donas de casa milionárias e superficiais entretém tanto, era difícil acreditar que pudesse existir um retrato feminino tão profundo, mas Big Little Lies veio mesmo para quebrar padrões.

Baseada no romance homônimo de Liane Moriarty a minissérie reúne um time de peso que inclui Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern e Zoë Kravitz, além de ser dirigida por Jean-Marc Valée, de “Clube de Compras Dallas” e “Livre”. O suspense começa com um assassinato, mas não sabemos quem morreu, quem foi o assassino ou qual foi o motivo, tornando todos os personagens possíveis vítimas ou suspeitos.

A partir dos depoimentos dos diferentes personagens começamos a tecer a rede de intrigas e abusos que levaram ao desfecho fatal. É ai que Big Little Lies se diferencia das demais séries ela não subestima o espectador, permitindo que cada um adentre a casa de cada uma das personagens e tire suas próprias conclusões.

Entre segredos e mentiras, a minissérie traz a tona temas como abusos, traições, bullying, preconceito tendo como representantes famílias que poderiam morar na casa ao lado. O estopim de tudo aparentemente é a chegada de Jane (Woodley) e seu filho Ziggy a cidade de Monterey, a jovem mãe solteira passa rapidamente a ser julgada pela irritante Renata (Dern) quando sua filha Amabella aparece com hematomas no pescoço após o primeiro dia de aula no primario, a culpa recai sobre Ziggy, o único menino que não tem pai na sala. O desenrolar desse conflito inicial acaba gradualmente escancarando problemas inimagináveis dentro de famílias modelo como a de Celeste (Kidman) e de Madeline (Witherspoon) que se veem envolvidas ao tomarem partido de Jane.

Em uma velocidade alucinante todo aquele castelo de vidro que simboliza a vida perfeita das representantes da comunidade começa a ruir e as famílias mais perfeitas ganham tons bem mais escuros. Big Little Lies é um sopro de ar fresco em meio à tantas séries que retratam um estilo de vida impraticável, mas é também uma abordagem dura para um sociedade que vive a tanto tempo tentando encobrir os problemas em prol de uma imagem imaculada.

Mais do que um roteiro primoroso, uma bela fotografia e um elenco perfeito a minissérie é necessária porque traz mulheres fortes e reais como protagonistas, que cometem erros, sofrem e precisam se reerguer e continuar em frente todos os dias, motivo que fez Big Little Lies receber 16 indicações ao Emmy, ter uma segunda temporada em desenvolvimento e ganhar espaço como uma de minhas séries favoritas.

The mini-series is a puzzle of necessary pieces, which forms a faithful portrait of the current society.

It took me a long time to give in to Big Little Lies, the mini-series debuted on HBO in February, and I just started watching it during a channel marathon this month when I decided to give the story a chance and in a few minutes I was stuck at a a pertinent and realistic storyline that is quite unlike any of the other series that bring women in the lead roles. In a country where wealthy, shabby housewives entertain so much, it was hard to believe that there could be such a deep female portrait, but Big Little Lies came to break standards.

Based on the novel by Liane Moriarty, the mini-series brings together a strong acting team that includes Reese Witherspoon, Nicole Kidman, Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoë Kravitz, and is directed by Jean-Marc Valée of "Dallas Buyers Club" and "Wild". The suspense begins with a murder, but we don't know who died, who was the killer or what was the reason, making all the characters possible victims or suspects.

From the testimonials of different characters we began to weave the network of intrigue and abuse that led to the fatal outcome. It is there that Big Little Lies differs from other series it doesn't underestimate the viewer, allowing each one to enter the house of each of the characters and draw our own conclusions.

Between secrets and lies, the mini-series brings up themes such as abuse, betrayal, bullying, prejudice and having as representatives families who could live in the house next door. The fuse of everything apparently is the arrival of Jane (Woodley) and her son Ziggy to the city of Monterey, the young single mother is quickly judged by the annoying Renata (Dern) when her daughter Amabella appears with bruises in the neck after the first day of primary school, Ziggy, the only child with no father in the room, is the one to blame. The unfolding of this initial conflict gradually opens up unimaginable problems within model families such as that of Celeste (Kidman) and Madeline (Witherspoon) who find themselves involved in taking Jane's side.

Quickly, the whole glass castle that symbolizes the perfect life of community representatives begins to crumble and those perfect families get darker shades. Big Little Lies is a breath of fresh air amid so many series depicting an impractical lifestyle, but it is also a harsh approach to a society that has been living for so long trying to cover up problems for an immaculate image.

More than an exquisite script, a beautiful photograph and a perfect cast the mini-series is necessary because it brings strong and real women as protagonists, who make mistakes, suffer and need to get up and go forward every day, that is why Big Little Lies has 16 Emmy nominations, a second season in development, and become one of my favorite series.
