Apesar das aguardadas indiretas e provocações o VMA 2017 foi plataforma para pedidos de união e bons exemplos para a situação atual dos Estados Unidos.
O momento mais aguardado do evento que aconteceu no último domingo (27) foi a divulgação do novo clipe de Taylor Swift, “Look What You Made Me Do”, que marca o início de uma fase mais sombria da cantora e que promete fazer do álbum Reputation uma espécie de manifesto à todos os julgamentos que ela sofreu ao longo dos anos, como não podia ser diferente o clipe cheio de referências bateu recorde no YouTube, mas apesar de toda a ansiedade que a divulgação causou o destaque da noite foi o posicionamento dos famosos diante dos problemas sociopolíticos que os EUA vem enfrentando, além dos exemplos de coragem e empoderamento dados pelos artistas.
Com grande comoção o evento lembrou as vítimas de Charleston e protestou contra o racismo com o lançamento da organização fundada pela mãe de Heather Heyer que foi assassinada durante um protesto. O evento falou ainda sobre o suicídio, lembrando as mortes de Chester Bennington e Chris Cornell, e o quanto é importante a união e o apoio as pessoas que passam por situações difíceis.
Sobre a valorização da mulher, P!nk, grande homenageada da noite, fez discurso inspirador sobre a resposta que deu a sua filha, de apenas 6 anos, quando ela disse que se achava feia:
A cantora Alessia Cara também deu exemplo com sua apresentação de "Scars to your beautiful" onde trocou sua super produção, vestido e maquiagem, para um visual bem mais simples e verdadeiro. Além disso, Kendrick Lamar foi o grande vencedor da premiação com sua música “HUMBLE”. Exemplo de empoderamento feminino, o rap fala sobre a beleza que reside nas imperfeições.
No quesito figurino a transparência reinou no blue carpet, mas também teve espaço para looks mais geométricos, vestidos de princesa com direito a brilho e plumas. Looks com uma pegada rocker também estiveram entre os favoritos. O mais legal das escolhas de looks do VMA foi que as famosas se mantiveram fiéis a seu próprio estilo.

Despite the long-awaited hints and taunts the VMA 2017 was a platform for calls for unity and good examples for the current situation in the United States.
The most awaited moment of the event that took place last Sunday (27) was the release of Taylor Swift's new video, "Look What You Made Me Do", which marks the beginning of a more darker phase of the singer and promises to make the album Reputation a sort of manifest to all the judgments she has suffered over the years, how could not be different the clip full of references hit record on YouTube, but despite all the anxiety that the publicity caused the highlight of the night was the positioning of the famous in the face of the sociopolitical problems in the U.S., as well as the examples of courage and empowerment given by artists.
With great commotion the event reminded the victims of Charleston and protested against racism with the launch of the organization founded by Heather Heyer's mother who was murdered during a protest. The event also talked about suicide, recalling the deaths of Chester Bennington and Chris Cornell, and how important it is to unite and support people in difficult situations.
On female empowerment, P!nk, the great homage of the night, made an inspiring speech about the response she gave her six-year-old daughter, when she said she was ugly:
